But I their defence, I think Singapore is too much a CITY. While David and myself have been traveling the different states in USA for the last few weeks, I realised that most places here the people are generally friendly and like you said would chat with each other like old friends even if they just met in the lift. But in the big cities like New York and Minneapolis etc... have the same kind of mentality. Not saying that they are not nice people but just not so nice to people they do not know. For example we went to meet some of David's family in Minneapolis and they were sweet as pie even those that did not know us but the people in the city like shopping area... was not too nice. So I think it is the rat race of the city life that makes people like that. But I do encourage us Singaporeans to take the extra effort to be nice even to people we do not know and it would make our lives more fulfilling. And Singapore would be a much nicer place to live in.
